Working Man's Lament

Young, strong and eager to win the day
Restless to join the working force for pay
Searching for work was never easy
Some folks do it until they are actually queasy
Watch what you do, show what you know
Knowledge is power and players always show

Working on a chain gang doesn't have
to be the rule
Especially if you follow some guidelines
and don't play the fool
At first when hired you can do no wrong
After awhile you feel it's where you belong
Day after day you work youre hardest
you push beyond extremes to do your best

You find yourself growing older a little slower
Brought in to fill in empty places are youngsters you are told..as your esteem sinks ever lower
The knowledge that you hold within you is gold
Unfortunate that the work world just thinks of you as old

In years gone by age was revered
Unfortunate that today it is totally feared
To strive to do what is right, show up on time, be polite, do your best, day in day out...year after year

What the hell does it matter anyway?

This mindset is poisoning our minds against employers...I feel like the guy in the bible looking for ten honest men .... I don't believe an honest employer exists.

I know I work hard, I know my husband does too...If I had my way and could afford it I would open my own flower/plant shop and never work for another person ever again. oh well, we'll see.

Superman

Up, up and away...I think the Gods smiled that day
A fine, strong young man to play a part
To forever find a cherished place within our hearts
He played a role that was big and bold
He fought against evil and wouldn't let it take hold

He lived his life without fear
Never backing down from any challenge he
held dear
Struck down quickly in the prime of life
He struggled valiantly against the strife
We, as a nation watched in awe
totally amazed at what we saw

I want to remember him flying through the sky
A symbol in red & blue....of courage supreme
He tried his best, fought so hard
Sometimes you  just have to ask "Why?"

In my  minds eye I picture him "flying" through
Heaven's Gate
Again fighting the good fight...only to win
Sorry to lose such a good soul
never did he hate
One day people will begin to heal
and it will not be considered a sin

Up, Up and Away!  My friend.......

The Art of Being Nasty

Some people plan and scheme
Everything bad is what they dream
Plots run rampant through their brains
Looking for dark clouds to bring on the rains

To achieve their ends by all means
They lay awake night after night..scheming
Never has any good come from their plans
As they leave their evil plots all over J-land

They awake each morning, not knowing
who they shall be
They come on line and pen their poison
just to confuse you and me

Be good, behave yourself we are told
Can we protest but a bit?  Can I not be a little bold?
Opinions can sometimes be over rated
Stopping the flow of genuine words & thoughts
should be negated.

Family

Family memories have always meant so much to me
Captured forever young on video for all to see
Glimpses of moments caught in time..a wedding, a birth
and a christening day..
Oh, Lord, how wonderful it would be to hold the years
that pass at bay.

Sitting, watching memories past...living, loving and
laughing out loud.
Being in the moment of joy once again, wondering
where is the silver cloud?
To view an image oh so real, wanting to touch,
hold, and feel.

The mirror doesn't lie but the camera does
Because everyone stays young...
To see them talk, smile and laugh...a little dance perhaps?
If I knew then what I know now..could I have held them
closer?  Stayed a little longer?

Wishing that you could go back through time
Hold your family close and tell them "I love you, your mine".
For all their odd, quirky ways....a loving family is worth it's weight in gold.
That's what I wish I had done if I had been that bold.
